Head of Science

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Science. This vacancy has arisen due to the continued growth of the Academy as we prepare to welcome our first Key Stage 5 cohort in September 2027, alongside the promotion of our current Head of Science within the Academy.

Having opened in September 2022, Maritime Academy has now established itself as a thriving secondary school serving the Medway community. Over the past few years, we have grown year-on-year in our exceptional purpose-built school in Frindsbury, building a strong reputation for high expectations, academic ambition and student success. As we continue our journey of growth and development, the introduction of Key Stage 5 provision marks an exciting new chapter for the Academy.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and inspirational leader to join us at a pivotal stage in our development. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future direction of Science across Key Stages 3, 4 and, from September 2027, Key Stage 5, ensuring that all students are challenged, supported and inspired to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Science teacher who is passionate about teaching and learning, embraces innovation and continuous improvement, and possesses excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. They will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to plan and deliver an engaging, ambitious and knowledge-rich curriculum. They will have a thorough understanding of current curriculum developments and a clear vision for excellence within Science education.  Our Curriculum Intent can be viewed here.

 The successful candidate will have high expectations of achievement and behaviour and be committed to ensuring that all students are actively engaged in their learning, make excellent progress and develop as confident, successful and lifelong learners.
